Set your sound settings in CONFIG -> Sound Setup to the following:
PC:
Inputs: None
Outputs: Headphones (Master: Chan 1&2 / Headphones: Chan 3&4)
Sound card: Numark (Or 4.1 card -> Numark)
Click APPLY.
Mac:
Inputs: None
Outputs: Headphones (Master: Chan 1&2 / Headphones: Chan 3&4)
Sound card: 4 out card -> Numark
Click APPLY.
Plug a pair of powered stereo speakers into master output on the back of the MixTrack Pro and your headphones into the headphone socket of the MixTrack Pro.
Press the small round CUE button above each deck's volume slider to choose which deck to pre-listen to (PFL.) Use the CUE GAIN knob in the middle of the MixTrack Pro to adjust the overall headphone volume and the CUE MIX knob to adjust the mix between the track that you are pre-listening to and the master output.
NOTE: It's not possible to record or broadcast with the microphone on the MixTrack Pro. This is because the mic is hardware-based and routed directly to the output of its sound card. The audio signal from the mic is not sent to VirtualDJ, so it is not possible for it to record/broadcast it.
ASIO4ALL
Your MixTrack Pro install CD may include the software ASIO emulator ASIO4ALL.
ASIO4ALL is not a real ASIO driver and there is no real benefit using it with VirtualDJ. In some cases, it may even cause you problems depending on your computer (Sound glitches, etc.)
Using native Windows WDM audio is recommended - Please see above for the correct sound configuration.
NOTE: If you are using a Mac, you should use native MacOS CoreAudio as above (ASIO4ALL does not exist on Mac.)
Scratch response
In the full VirtualDJ Professional, you can adjust the Jog Sensitivity (Scratch) in the CONFIG -> PC:
Inputs: None
Outputs: Headphones (Master: Chan 1&2 / Headphones: Chan 3&4)
Sound card: Numark (Or 4.1 card -> Numark)
Options tab - move the slider to the left it gets tighter - move to the right it gets more loose.
If you want to tweak it even further - then you can download the registry tool and tweak it more:
http://www.virtualdj.com/addons/2170/Registry_Tool.html
Run the tool and change the DefaultScratchLatency option to a value of 1024 to give you a tighter response.
